LATEST EDITION OF FERRY VIEWS - SEPTEMBER 2011
At the Suffolk PGA AGM held at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club on Wednesday 23rd November Ian Macpherson was awarded Honorary Life Membership of the SPGA and was presented with the memento as shown in the photo for his 31 years of involvement and membership.
On Saturday 26th November a one day Indian Cuisine Cookery Course was held at the Club with Padmaja Kochera.
Padmaja is a well known award winning local Indian Cookery Expert who has appeared on many television cookery programmes.
The day was a great success and is sure to be repeated
DRIVE-INS OF THE 3 NEW CAPTAINS
October saw changes at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club with the Club’s three new Captains taking part in their Drive-Ins.
On Thursday 27th October, 2011 the new Ladies Captain, ANITA DABBS, performed her Drive-In, after the outgoing Ladies Captain, Pat Cofield Putted out.
Later that day the Juniors Captain, MARK FOSKER Drove- In with an impressive distance of 275 yards (hitting into a head wind).
Then on Sunday 30th October members saw the Drive-In of the Club’s new Captain, JAMES DOUGLAS-HAMILTON.
DAVID HOUSTON
At the Suffolk Golf Partnership Conference Tuesday 8th November 2011 David Houston, a long term member of Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for Services to Golf supported by England Golf.
David has served as The County President and Chairman of the Suffolk Juniors
BRETT TAYLOR sets a new course record of 65 at Felixstowe
Robert Joyce, who is taking over as Club Professional on the 1st December, took third place with a four under par 68. This was Roberts first entry in the Winter Fourballs.

THE PEUGEOT FOURSOMES FINALS
Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club are extremely proud of two of their lady members – Jackie van Bergen and Alison Noy.
The sisters played in the Final of the Peugeot Foursomes held at St.Andrews Golf Club in Scotland.
Jackie and Alison were playing against 15 other pairs of ladies who had come from all parts of the country. On the day the rain started early and there was a howling gale – they scored 35 points which was just one away from the winning pair.
The Gala Dinner was superb and was held in the “Road Hole” Restaurant and the whole experience for Jackie and Alison was amazing.
FELIXSTOWE FERRY REGAIN THE COUNTY TOLLY COBBOLD CUP IN 2011
On Sunday September 11th Felixstowe Ferry played Woodbridge, the existing holders of the Tolly Cobbold Cup in a superb nail biting 36 hole final. In a strong performance by both sides, Felixstowe Ferry determinedly edged ahead by 8 points in the closing holes to finally regain the title.
Congratulations to all the squad, sponsored by Boast International who played superbly throughout and are pictured above back row Martin Smedley, John Williams, team Captain James Douglas-Hamilton, Mark Linney, Ian Brown, front row Steve Livermore, Paul Doughty, Steve Locke, Andy Hunt, Nick Barker and Chris Barber.
The Ladies Championship played on the 3rd September, 2011 saw a draw for the Ladies Champion and a playoff took place between Charlie Damonsing and Amanda Norman.
Amanda won on the first play-off hole and is, therefore, Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club's Ladies Champion.
Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club's Men's Champion is Nigel Fosker and the winner of the Kersey Cup (best nett score) is Andy Hunt.

Club Championships
Felixstowe Ferry held their Club Championships during the weekend.of 3rd & 4th September
Club Champion is Nigel Fosker with a gross score of 152 (74 - 78). The Kersey Cup for the best net score was won by 12 handicap Andy Hunt with a net score of 136 (64 - 72).
On Saturday, the Junior Championship was won by Toby Spink with a gross score of 147 (77 - 70) and the Ladies Championship was won by Amanda Norman at the first playoff hole against Charlie Damonsing.
Scoring in the afternoon round of the Club Championship was made more difficult by a very heavy rainstorm and great credit must go to 14 year old Josh Murton who came second in both the gross and net competitions with scores of 76 (69) and 78 (71) - which included a 9 at the 11th hole in his first round.

Junior Matchplay
Golf Open Day
The Club’s GOLF OPEN DAY which was held on 23rd July proved a great success. The Club offered Beginners and Golfers free coaching and a free round of golf on the 9 hole Kingsfleet course.
We had 68 people visit the Club that afternoon – they took advantage of the free offers and also the hospitality in the Clubhouse throughout the afternoon.
From the afternoon’s event, the Club has gained a number of full and Kingsfleet members, as well as some youngsters who will now come to the Club for regular group coaching on a Wednesday afternoon.
