Where, when and why did you start playing golf?

I started playing golf at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club in 1993 aged 8. My dad was a member of the club and I wanted to go and play golf with him.

Before I turned Professional I was working at a bakery with no plans to turn pro at all but then an opportunity to work as an Assistant for Ian MacPherson came up. After speaking with Ian I quickly realised I wanted to become a PGA Professional.

My favourite part of being a Club Professional is working with the Members of the club. I have met some very good friends through all the golf clubs I have worked at.

I really like the 11th especially since the black tees were introduced. I usually hit a 3 iron ‘stinger’ off the tee which normally leaves a mid iron into the green depending on the wind.

At this moment in time it has to be Tommy Fleetwood. I really like the way he plays and you can tell by his swing that he was brought up playing links golf as he is in complete control of his ball flight.

I would have to pick Annika Sorenstam. During her prime she was absolutely phenomenal. I watched her practising at the Ladies British Open at Sunningdale and she didn’t miss her target once.

The best and the toughest I have played is Royal Birkdale. When you play round an Open Championship venue you realise how good the top players are.

If I could pick one putting stroke it would have to be Tiger Woods from the 2000’s. If he had an important 10 foot putt you just knew he would make it.

I like to keep things extremely simple when I coach as golf is hard enough without making it complicated. I always enjoy listening to Butch Harmon talk about the golf swing.

I am looking forward to helping the club move forward with the development of the junior section. I came through the ranks as a junior at Felixstowe and I know how much it means to the club. I am also looking forward to taking as many opportunities as I can to play on our fantastic course with the Members.

I have many interests away from the golf course. I have been a season ticket holder at Ipswich Town for nearly 20 years. I am a huge fan of The Beatles and Oasis and I play Guitar. I am also an owner of a 1966 Lambretta.

love going to Ibiza, it is only a two-hour flight and it is a beautiful Island.

If it was to be a golfers dinner I would pick Annika Sorrenstam, Tiger Woods and Charley Hull. Annika is my favourite golfer of all time, Tiger is the greatest of all time and Charley Hull is just an amazing talent and an inspiration to up and coming junior golfers. A non-golfing dinner would be Paul McCartney, John Lennon and Liam Gallagher. I would love to hear Paul and John speak about the stories from the Beatles years and Liam has always been my hero and has been a huge influence to me. I have always admired his fashion and hairstyles.
