Junior Organiser

SARAH SCHWER

“I am a keen golfer and having started my golfing life at FFGC, I have represented the club on many occasions. I am a qualified Montessori teacher and have a degree in Psychology and Early Childhood Studies.

My husband is also a keen golfer and we have two school-aged daughters who also play. We are a typical golfing family with diaries invariably arranged around our golfing commitments.

I feel very strongly about the mental and physical well-being of young people and totally believe that golf can play an important part of their development by creating and nurturing friendships and other crucial life skills. It also happens to be a great opportunity for year-round exercise in a beautiful environment!

My aim as Junior Organiser is to maintain and further strengthen the junior section at FFGC. It’s a privilege to work with our club professionals, the junior committee and the Golf Foundation and together we are committed to providing a thriving, fun and safe environment for all our young golfers.”

PGA Head Professional

ANDREW ROBINSON

“I have been Head Professional at FFGC since October 2018 having previously been the Head Professional at Southwold Golf Club for 4 years. I completed my PGA Course and became a fully qualified PGA Professional in 2008 having served as the assistant professional to Ian MacPherson here at FFGC.

I joined FFGC aged 8 and I was fortunate to come through the Junior ranks at FFGC under the guidance of my coach Ian MacPherson. This allowed me to represent Suffolk Juniors when I was 9 years old and then broke into the County first team when I was 15. I played county golf until I turned professional aged 20.

As well as coaching I still enjoy playing and competing in as many PGA events as possible and each year I attempt to qualify for The Open.

I am currently the Head coach to the Suffolk Ladies and Suffolk Girls’ county squads.

As a product of FFGC’s junior section, it gives me much pleasure teaching the juniors and sharing the knowledge I have learned over the years. I enjoy seeing the improvement in each junior’s game and have great pleasure seeing the juniors out on the golf course enjoying our great game and meeting new friends.”

PGA Assistant Professional

SAM FORGAN

“I am a playing and teaching professional, based here in Felixstowe. I started my golfing career in Suffolk as a junior playing county golf for the junior and men’s teams. I obtained a scholarship to attend Louisiana Tech University in the USA playing for the golf team. After graduating from university, I turned pro and played on the EuroPro Tour. In 2021, I qualified and played in The Open at Royal St George’s Golf Club.

In addition to playing professional golf, I am pursuing my PGA qualification and began coaching in 2019. I coach a variety of ages but have really enjoyed coaching junior golfers. I hold junior group sessions every Saturday and am also involved with coaching the Suffolk County Girls’ team. I conduct lessons on the range as well as playing lessons on the course for our juniors, which provides an all-around golf education for beginners.”

GolfSixes Co-ordinator

STEVE FROST

“I was born on the Norfolk Suffolk border in a little village called Euston more years ago than I’m prepared to go public about. I am married to Jan who is also a golfer at Felixstowe Ferry. We have 3 daughters, 4 granddaughters and 2 great-grandsons.

In the final years of my working life I was CFO at several container terminals around Africa & the Middle East.

I was lucky enough to be asked to be Captain of the club in 2017, and if you look very carefully you may find my name on a couple of other boards in the clubhouse.

I have really enjoyed my involvement with the juniors at Felixstowe Ferry Golf Club starting in 2018 and I have been team manager of the Junior Sixes squad since 2019.”

Welfare Officer

DONNA GRANT

“Hi, my name is Donna Grant and I am the Safeguarding Officer for the Golf Club.

I have worked in the office since August 2018 and previously worked at the University of Suffolk supporting students through their courses.

I have two grown-up daughters and was a Brownie Leader for thirty years so I hope you will find that I am approachable.

Although not a golfer myself I am passionate about young people having the opportunity to develop their skills in their chosen sport. I recently started learning to play tennis and wish that I had learnt when I was younger.

If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to contact me on 01394 286834 option 1 or on 07510 136365.”
